What is Search4Dev?

Search4Dev is an online library for digital publications of Dutch organizations in the international development cooperation sector. Search4Dev offers quick and easy access to these publications. In addition to bibliographic details, you will always find a link to the full text version of a publication. Search4Dev is initiated to reduce the gap between science, policy and development practice. This service is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Organization

Search4Dev is being realised by the Information & Library Services department of the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT). Search4Dev was established in 2008, initiated by the Development Policy Review Network (DPRN), a temporary network of development experts and policy makers that was established in 2002 and formally ended in March 2011. The repository was developed in collaboration with the KIT Information & Library Services in collaboration with the Digital Production Centre of the University of Amsterdam.

Global visibility

Search4Dev is accessible worldwide via the internet. This makes the publications of Dutch development organizations easy to find, both for a national and international audience. By using international standards and protocols, the publications can also easily be retrieved by search engines and other information services, such as OAIster.

OAIster is a well-known example of an international information service that collects information from a large number of international online libraries and institutional repositories.

Copyright

If known, copyright holders are listed for each publication. If you believe that there is infringement of copyright, you are requested to notify search4dev@kit.nl. When necessary, KIT Information & Library Services can remove the material from Search4Dev. Organizations are advised to use a Creative Commons license to indicate under which conditions a publication may be used by third parties. If known, the type of Creative Commons license that applies to a publication is noted in Search4Dev. Information about the different licenses can be found on the Creative Commons website.
