SamenvattingCurrently, more and more academics and practitioners in the field of microfinance are emphasising on the need of social performance measurement and management. Contrary, in the past the main focus has been on financial performance while social performance was more or less neglected. This research focuses on the link between both kinds of performances. Multiple authors expect a positive link or mutually reinforcing effect between social and financial performance of MFIs. In order to test this assumption a total of 69 MFIs located all around the world have filled out a questionnaire focusing on four dimensions of social performance management (SPM) and indicators for financial performance. The relations between these four SPM dimensions and financial performance have been statistically tested in this research.
