| Samenvatting | Peer review is increasingly suggested as a method of improving development practice. The authors undertook an experimental exploration of a peer review approach involving five external peers. The excitement, yield and reflections of the peers and the authors are used to illustrate the potential of the 'pressure cooker approach' followed. The authors identify and discuss further design and working principles used: openness, handing over the stick, selection of peers, diversity and synergy, focus and synchronization, and an appreciative approach. Linking this to the actual peer review process and output. They revisit their design and working principles and articulate key lessons and conclusions: adhere to your design principles, selection of peers, synchronization, member input and value for peer reviewers and the authors. The exploration of peer review methods should continue. |
