SamenvattingIn 2006, the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV) and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) decided to establish the Alliance for Inclusive Business. An Inclusive Business is one which seeks to contribute towards poverty alleviation by including lower-income communities within its value chain while not losing sight of the ultimate goal of business, which is to generate profits. Inclusive Business leads to: (1) increased profitability for the company as a result of lower supply costs, market expansion through the inclusion of low-income sectors, and greater sustainability of the business activity; and (2) improved living conditions for poor populations as a result of increased incomes, and greater access to goods, services or infrastructure.
