|Samenvatting||In solving complex problems involving many different stakeholders, interdisciplinary research is indispensable. But cooperation between disciplines is not always easy. This article looks at the lessons that have been learned from two interdisciplinary research programmes funded by Wageningen University’s Interdisciplinary Research and Education Fund (INREF): the Convergence of Sciences programme with a focus on West Africa and the Competing Claims on Natural Resources programme with a focus on southern Africa.|
